Hospitality Spring Farm was established in July of 2014 by the Nelson Phero family. As teenagers, both Nelson and his wife, Sarah, hoped a farm would be in their futures. Over the winter of 2013-2014, they began the process of turning those dreams into reality and are thankful that God led them here to Dutch Corner in Bedford County, now a National Agricultural Historic District.
We are seeking to develop a diversified, sustainable farm utilizing a combination of traditional and modern methods and tools. We think of our farm as a subsistence farm, that is, a farm whose primary goal is to provide for the needs, food and otherwise, of the farmer and his household; and secondarily to produce a surplus to offer for sale to the community. While not common in 21st century America, subsistence farming is the most basic, most common, most widespread form of farming both historically and globally.
In 2020, we opened a farm store at our location to directly market our home-grown produce, meats, books, toys, clothing, and hygiene products. Check back with us from time to time to see what new items and foods we have available!
